Story about Steven

My name is Steven Griffin.I started using drugs at age 13. My parents were both addicts who made my transition to drugs a no brainer. My mother is responsible for introducing me to drugs at that age when she started giving me pills. After getting introduced, I consistently used pills and even mixed with other substances like marijuana and alcohol. Pills were my favorite and Vicodin was among them. Depression was one thing I struggled with in my teens as well as the parents' verbal abuse. It prompted me to abuse drugs, and my personal relationship involved many partners who came and went. Due to the need for drugs, I acted like a typical teen addict who stole and sneaked at night. However, sneaking was pointless since my mother was already high most often an could not notice. At 16, we stayed with my mother and younger brother in a shelter since our parents had separated. The police came and took me back to my father. My father was still abusive verbally, and since he was using a drug called uppers, I soon started using coke and meth for the next two years. I would later run away from my father's place in Texas and wandered towards Houston never to go back. An old friend helped me stay together with my mother. However, my friend's mother was an addict and could get high with my mom, which made us all get high together. One day I got arrested and sent to the juvenile where I wasn't keen to change. However, one time, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw sunken eyes and spots all over me. I fell to my knees and prayed for the first time. At that time, I got help from one of the program coordinators, and it's been five years being sober.
